Take a look at the interview below with our editor-in-chief, Shazir Mucklai, and Jason Stone of Millionaire Mentor.

Mucklai: What keeps you going when things get tough in your business?

Stone: Meditation is the key to staying calm when problems arise. Know in the back of your head, that if you surrender to the problems you’ll only far further behind. Keep your goal in mind and you will find a solution, there are no problems, only solutions.

Mucklai: What 3 things does anyone starting in your industry need to know?

Stone: Focus on making an impact, not money.

Sometimes it isn’t about how much money you make, but how you make it that matters.

Too many people want to just make money and they don’t care how it’s done and how they get it done, so they cut corners, sacrifice their dignity, and overlook their product or service they offer.

Mucklai: What would you do differently if you were starting in your industry now?

Stone: Content marketing is king, and distribution of the content trumps all. I would distribute quality content more.

Mucklai: Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?

Stone: “How to win friends and influence people”

In business, and in life, it’s all about people, get along with people, make them know you, like you and trust you, and you can influence anyone.

Mucklai: What would you say is the #1 key to success in your business?

Stone: Discipline is the most crucial factor in business, if you want to reach your goals, it takes time, and patience and the only way to get there is to stay disciplined for long periods of time.

If you want something done, you either have to commit to doing it your self, or depend on others that you teach to do it and being able to manage people to do things you don’t know how to do is essential.

Mucklai: Talk about the biggest failure you’ve had. What did you learn from it?

Stone: Being a know it all for too long, I realized that if you want to go fast, go alone if you want to go far, go with others.

In my early days, I thought I could do everything, learn everything, and not depend on others to get things done, well that can only take you so far, I realized that you need mentors, other people that you can learn from, and not be afraid of asking questions, or feeling dumb when you do.

That’s how you learn and go far, with others. Surround yourself with people you look up to, let them know that, and let them know how they have had an impact on your life

Let your pride down, and get rid of your ego.
