Meet Dennis Schleicher, a New Pioneer for LGBT in the Faith Community

Dennis Schleicher is a widely sought-after public speaker who has traveled extensively and shared stories about his conversion and faith in the face of adversity. He is writer, motivational speaker, and best-selling author of Is He Nuts?: Why a Gay Man Would Become a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Scripture Up! Affirmation Journal – Strengthening God’s Message – Old Testament and Pearl of Great Price.

A resident of Glastonbury, Connecticut, Dennis is president and publicity director of the Connecticut Authors & Publishers Association. He currently serves as a literary agent, representing Christian authors.

He’s deeply experienced in corporate sales, and has worked at several Fortune 500 companies, including a regional sales manager representing a multimillion-dollar territory within the professional beauty industry. In the corporate world he learned to communicate effectively with others, building the groundwork for his people outreach.

At age seventeen, Dennis appeared on seven talk shows, including Larry King Live and Sally Jessy Raphael, after being the victim of a brutal hate crime in his high school. Dennis now serves as the Elders Quorum First Counselor, Ward Mission Leader, assisting Mission Presidents, leaders, Sisters, and Elders worldwide to understand better how to help the LGBTQ+ community.

“I’ve shared my experiences as a hate crime victim on many national outlets, and I’ve discussed the Catholic Church’s comments on homosexuality, and have also talked about how to reconcile one’s sexuality with religion. I have been a PR director and am now the President of Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association,” Schleicher explains.

If you have experienced opposition from others in your own life, you haven’t done anything great in yours.

Dennis is a passionate voice for helping others find hope, perseverance, opportunity, and inspiration, and regularly speaks on the topics of personal redemption, serving the Lord and experiencing change through Him, and much more. He’s been able to use his experiences of rising from pain to uplift and inspire others.

After experiencing his hate crime, he explained, “At that time, I never thought or couldn’t imagine the path He would put me on. You may not know the path He has for YOU. It is with great faith and love for Him that we all must trust. Trust that He will guide us all down a path of faith, hope, and love for all.”
