Vuzec Takes Artists and Fans into a New Age for the Music Industry

If you have been following the news in the music world lately, you have likely heard of Vuzec, the music assetization platform that empowers individual artists and collectives to be their own record labels. The company is getting the attention of a lot of industry insiders because it is on track to do what has until now seemed impossible: eliminate the need for artists to sign on with record labels. Through blockchain technology (and some guts), Vuzec’s engineers have created a one-stop shop through which artists release their music to fans on all traditional streaming platforms.

Stop for a moment and really think about what this means: because of Vuzec, artists will no longer have to sign away their rights due to restrictive contracts or lose a sizable chunk of their royalties to the labels. With all the attention in the media over the last few years about artists going to court to get out of their contracts, Vuzec’s innovation matters and is sending all of us, including fans, into a future that is entirely Vuzec’s to make. It is not hyperbole to say the music world is undergoing an earthquake of sorts, one that will likely get stronger in the months to come.

How are we, the fans, impacted? Well, consider the relationships we have all had with our favorite artists until now. They can’t exist without us, of course. If we didn’t buy their albums or go to their concerts, artists would be no more well-known than the next person who sings in the shower. Still, as vital as we fans have been, we can all agree that our relationships with artists have been passive. We have money to spend, and the record labels know it. They market the artists, we hear their music on the radio, and we buy the albums.

The profits flow into everyone’s pockets – except the fans’.

The answer – shared music ownership – is so simple that in some ways it’s amazing that no one has done it before.  It’s a gap that Vuzec is stepping into by allowing fans to become actual investors in their favorite artists. This changes everything in the music world, and it’s time for fans to get on board.

Fans are now active investors in the careers of their favorite artists because Vuzec acts as a “crowd label” and is using the blockchain to tokenize artists’ royalty streams. Fans can buy those tokens, which give them ownership of parts of the albums’ royalties. This means that fans ultimately have the potential to earn profits off the artists they invest in. How much? No one can say, as it depends on the percentage of the artist’s album that you own and how well the artist does. Even so, Vuzec’s innovation is a game changer, one that fans should pay serious attention to.

Vuzec may be in the early days of its drive to fundamentally reinvent the music industry, but it has momentum on its side. Since its launch in 2021, Vuzec has on-boarded dozens of artists. Its next step in its mission to transform the music world will be its show on June 22 in New York City, where some of its artists will perform live. For those fans who have already started investing in their artists, seeing them perform on stage will be a completely different concert experience.

A week later on June 30-July 1, Vuzec will facilitate a two-day Metaverse concert at the Celestial Music and NFT Festival, with fifteen artists performing live. Over the remainder of the summer, Vuzec will release the music of thirty more artists. In the meantime, it continues to onboard artists and collectives onto its platform, including two DJs from Dim Mak Records.

Vuzec’s mission, to remove record labels from the relationships between fans and artists, raises a very practical question: if music lovers are inevitably going to buy albums from artists anyway, why not invest in them at the same time and reap the results?

Vuzec is an online platform for musical artists at all stages of their careers. It is using the blockchain and Web3 to strengthen the relationships between artists and their fans. Through Vuzec, artists can stream their albums, drop merchandise, and hold IRL and virtual concerts. Fans can buy tokens from the artist, allowing them to receive royalties, watch the artist make music in their studio, get discounted rates on tickets and merchandise, and join a real community that interacts with the artist on a frequent basis.
