Daybook: The Next-Generation Journal Safeguarding Memories
Over 1,000,000 journalers have turned to Daybook to safeguard their memories, reflect on past experiences, and analyze and improve themselves. Daybook is a free, passcode-protected personal diary, journal, and notes app that helps to record activities, experiences, thoughts, and ideas throughout the day. It is the first journal that works on all platforms – IOS, Android, Web/desktop, and digital assistants like Alexa, Google , and Bixby. It lets a person organize their journal entries or notes from the past in the easiest way.
Daybook was founded by Bino Thomas (CEO), Gitto Niclavose (CTO), and Bitto Niclavose (COO), who envisioned an online journaling platform for the new generation. “We started Daybook as a side project for personal use since two of our co-founders were regular journal writers. Eventually, we released it as an app and got a lot of positive feedback. We always knew that journaling can have a positive impact on a person’s life, and we wanted to concentrate our efforts on significantly helping our users’ mental health and well-being ,” Bino says.
Bitto explains, “In the past, keeping a personal journal in a book has been a great tool for preserving memory and tracking daily activities and thoughts for self-reflection and mental health. Successful people like John D. Rockefeller, George Patton, and Ronald Reagan all kept journals, which helped them be successful. So, we knew when we created Daybook that this could really help journalers.”
Over time, both the company and its customers have discovered new uses for Daybook, taking it to a whole new level. Bino says, “I know that a lot of people are using it as an expense tracker, a class notebook for tracking homework assignments or planning projects, or a business diary day planner. Daybook has grown into a very versatile app, so if keeping a diary is not your thing, you can still find plenty of ways to use it.”
For those who are still unsure about online journaling, Daybook has features not found in a traditional diary. The platform enables its users to write memoirs, journals, and notes in an organized and natural way. Daybook’s founders knew that many people struggle with writing down their thoughts, so they included writing prompts to get them started. The journal comes with a lock and a security code to keep it private, so it will be safe from any nosy siblings. Content and photos are saved to the cloud for free.
Everyone is different, of course, so Daybook allows users to customize their journals. It even supports multiple fonts and themes, including dark mode for night reading. For people who prefer to use digital voice assistants, they can create, read out, and search journal entries through Alexa, Google Assistant, and Bixby.
Do all of those options sound overwhelming? “Don’t worry,” Bino says, smiling. “While we’ve done our best to make an online journal for the tech-savvy new generation, Daybook is actually quite easy to use even with all its bells and whistles. At its heart, it’s a simple diary that can be used for multiple purposes every day.”
While much of Daybook is free, the app does offer premium content, including access to custom templates, elegant themes, and all guided journals as well as the ability to upload more photos with higher resolution.
As successful as Daybook has been, Gitto believes that this is only the beginning. “We have a big future because more and more journalers are transitioning to digital diaries, not just through mobile or web apps, but through digital assistants like Alexa and Google assistance. The public is learning that journaling is an amazing tool for personal growth. It can help you gain control of your emotions and improve your mental health. And, because we have such a unique product, people are finding Daybook and becoming enthusiastic users of it.”
All three founders are proud of the app they have created and of the impact it’s having around the world. As Bino says, “With mental health a growing issue everywhere, I am thankful we offer an app where users can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that empowers them to lead stronger lives.”
