Dr. Victoria Veytsman: Helping Celebrities Have Beautiful Smiles
Movie stars and models are often envied for their perfect smiles, but despite their million-dollar lifestyles, they are people just like the rest of us. While some celebrities were blessed with great smiles, others received theirs through cosmetic dentists like
Dr. Victoria Veytsman, founder of Cosmetic Dental Studios in Manhattan, New York, and Beverly Hills, California. Dr. Veytsman has worked with celebrities like Sonja Morgan, Eva LaRue, Morgan Fairchild, and Stephen Baldwin. “Their smiles are gorgeous,” she says. “The wonderful truth, however, is that your smile can be just as beautiful.”
Dr. Veytsman has been giving her patients celebrity-style smile makeovers since 2005. Known as Dr. V to her patients, she loves showing people what cosmetic dentistry can do for them. “It can make the shyest person more confident,” she says. “and it can restore a patient’s pride in themselves. They feel more at ease with who they are, and they can’t wait to show the world.”
Dr. Veytsman states that a person has many options if they want to have a celebrity-smile, but they must approach treatment with realism. “I often explain that those photos on the Internet have sometimes been retouched, so what the patient has seen is not always the reality. Also, because of a person’s face shape, age, mouth size, or other factors, getting that same smile might not be possible. However, the good news is that through the treatments I offer, they can have an amazing, confident smile. They just need to understand what is possible for them.”
At Cosmetic Dental Studios, patients can transform their smiles through veneers, Invisalign®, dental implants, crowns, and bridges. Dr. Veytsman says that when she shows her patient what can be done to give them a smile makeover, they are excited and look forward to getting started. “That’s one of the best parts of my job, seeing that hope as they realize what is about to happen – it’s the coolest thing about cosmetic dentistry. There is always a solution and a possibility to transform into the 2.0, improved version of yourself.”
Over the coming weeks, Dr. Veytsman meets regularly with her patient at her office. “I monitor their progress and make adjustments as needed,” she says. “As time passes, the change in their self-esteem is noticeable. They can look in the mirror and see that their smile is improving, and this really boosts their spirits. On the day the treatment is completed – the veneers or the bridge is finished, for example – we celebrate. We look at the ‘before’ pictures and compare them to how the patient looks now, and they can’t stop smiling. It’s a rewarding moment for me and my team because we were involved in this process and have helped someone feel better about themselves.”
Dr. Veytsman’s road to becoming a highly respected cosmetic dentist began at age sixteen, when she entered college at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. At age 22, she graduated cum laude from a six-year program with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry as the school’s youngest graduate. While at NYU, Dr. Veytsman studied general dentistry and performed externships in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Mount Sinai, Bellevue, and Montefiore. She then went on to gain experience in operative dentistry, endodontics, periodontal surgery, oral surgery, and fixed and removable dentistry with rotations in oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, emergency medicine, and general anesthesia. Dr. Veytsman eventually returned to NYU for their implant fellowship; she studied and practiced surgical and prosthetic treatments, case selections, and comprehensive treatment planning. She has completed several well-known aesthetic continuing education programs and fellowships in cosmetic dentistry, smile makeovers, and full-mouth rehabilitation. Her practice focuses exclusively on the latter now.
Today, Cosmetic Dental Studios is Dr. Veytsman’s private practice. She is state licensed to practice dentistry in New York and California and is certified by the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments (formerly known as The North East Regional Board). She has become known for her smile makeovers performed as the official dentist to several prominent organizations, including Miss America and the New York Giants Cheerleaders. Dr. Veytsman has also been a featured smile expert on TLC, in Haute MD, The New York Times, WebMD, Yahoo! Health, New Beauty, Latina Magazine, Brides, Social Life Magazine, the Huffington Post, and Hamptons Magazine.
While Dr. Veytsman is enjoying the success she has earned, she still gets a thrill from every single case completed and seeing her patients’ reactions to their new smiles. “That’s the best feeling – it never gets old,” she says. “I don’t think I will ever get over the joy and reward that comes with this. That is why I got into this profession: to use my skills to transform how people see themselves. I really believe in the power of transformation. That I get to use my two favorites, art and science, to do that is very cool to me.”
