Priyanka Jariwala Is Making Physical Therapy Work
How do you define “good health?” Freedom from illness? Absence of injury? Many define it as having complete soundness of body and mind. However, unforeseen injuries and degenerative joint disorders can disrupt the feeling of good health. Still, there is hope. A physical therapist named Priyanka Jariwala PT, MS, is helping people achieve health and happiness. “I love what I do. The fact that my work improves the lives of others affords me great fulfillment,” she says.
Priyanka specializes in orthopedic and sports-related injuries as well as human kinesiology. “People come to me with various orthopedic or musculoskeletal issues and complexities, and I help them manage their condition,” she explains. “My work restores mobility, flexibility, strength, and range of motion.”
She helps people who are recovering from illness or injury regain their previous level of function through her role as a physical therapist. One of her former clients is a 26-year old recreational skier. A skiing accident had resulted in a torn ACL, a torn lateral meniscus, and a fracture of one of the knee bones. After consulting the doctors, he underwent reconstructive surgery for the knee.
Once the surgical procedure was over, the skier reached out to Priyanka at Performance Rehabilitation for help with his recovery. Priyanka then took him through a 10-month intensive rehabilitation program and helped him regain his strength and mobility. “My knee felt great after all 3 days of skiing,” he said. It is not just him; many other former patients have a similar story to tell.
Priyanka’s workplace, Performance Rehabilitation, is a physical therapy clinic based in Yonkers, New York. The clinic provides a wide range of therapeutic services to clients. Perhaps their main attribute is the fact that they do not have a waiting list. They schedule patients within 1 to 3 days of booking in order to avoid overcrowding.
With Priyanka’s help, Performance Rehabilitation is making a real impact and earning widespread recognition. In 2021, the clinic was named the Best Physical Therapy Clinic In Yonkers by Expertise.com.
“I am not slowing down anytime soon,” she reveals. “If people need a hand, I will be there to lend it. I am very passionate about what I do. While I am not one for cliches, my instinct is to be the difference I want to see in the world.”
Priyanka’s colleagues have described her as motivated, client-focused, and caring. That explains why she earned a spot on ThreeBestRated’s list of Top 3 Physical Therapists in Yonkers. “Honestly, I felt honored and humbled to make that list,” she remembers. “I will always give this job my 100%. I feel my clients deserve that much.”
On the significance of the physical therapy industry, Priyanka believes it has a lot to offer society. “I feel it is an important part of healthcare. I think physical therapists, in general, play a huge role in the daily lives of their patients. That is why I am eager to participate in more education programs to promote the profession and share the importance of the work that we do. I would also like to be a part of an outreach program to spread awareness about common conditions which can benefit from a successful physical therapy rehabilitation.”
Her advice to aspiring physical therapists is to stay the course. She believes that an unwavering resolve ultimately yields success. “Be authentic and true to yourself. I have learned that if you want something bad enough, you almost always get it. Like every industry, the physical therapy world comes with its own challenges, but do not give up,” Priyanka recommends. “Let your passion be the reason you defy the odds.”
