Why Vinyl Siding Should Matter Most to Contractors in a Remodeling Market
What does the siding used on your home have to do with the environment?
More than you might think.
Throughout its life cycle, vinyl siding has 79% less impact on global warming than fiber cement and 85% less impact than brick and mortar.
Brian “JR” Girskis is the owner of Suburban Wholesale and Supply in Davenport, Iowa, and he’s made it his mission to help make homes more environmentally friendly.
“Our mission is to give customers what they want. We focus on green and energy efficient products, which we urge everyone to stop by and enjoy the showroom displays. The showroom will rival any building material business between Chicago and Denver, and we constantly update our offerings to give our customers the best and most extensive options in the industry.”
For Brian, having the right materials is just the beginning; he wants to be at the forefront of offering the best remodeling advantages to a housing market that is less into building new homes and more into improving the homes that already exist around the country.
“There is ample growth opportunity as a distributor and as an installation person. With fewer homes being built, remodeling will continue to take a larger share of the business,” Girskis explains. As more contractors are serving customers who want to make their homes more environmentally friendly, finding the right vinyl siding is of key importance.
“Just because you have thick vinyl siding it doesn’t mean it will be good. The raw ingredients make a real difference to the performance of vinyl siding,” Brian explains.
As one site explains, “Vinyl siding, insulated vinyl siding and polypropylene siding products require minimal raw material and produce virtually no waste. Vinyl siding requires less water and energy per square foot than fiber cement and less than half the energy and fuel of brick and mortar, plus less fossil fuel for transportation. And on the jobsite, VSI Certified Installers are trained to reduce waste during installation.”
Brian is on a mission to help customers embrace .46 mm vinyl siding, which provides adequate insulation while being cost-effective. And Suburban Wholesale has plenty of it. “Our market share continues to grow and our in stock inventories rival all national branches. We have become a leading authority in technical specs and training. We have a VSI Instruction and an AAMA Installation Masters Instructor on staff for our wholesale customers.”
Brian is as much a family man as he is a seasoned business pro. “I enjoy spending time with my wife Kristine and my kids, as well as spending time with my friends and extended family. I’m a huge fan of the northern woods of Wisconsin. When I’m not at the office, I love helping out with the Boy Scouts of America. I’ve tried many roles with the BSA and will continue to help lead the way.”
