MossbyRah Brings the World’s First Sea Moss Juice Bar to the West Coast

MossbyRah is a juice bar that specializes in products made from sea moss. Though the company was well established before Covid-19, MossbyRah took off to unimaginable heights with just an online presence. The juice bar is set to open a new location in Santa Monica, California.

Sea Moss as a Supplement

Though many people have tried sea moss gel, they usually take it on its own without mixing it into another product. Some people try capsules to avoid the gel-like texture or use it as an additive in smoothies. “My process is very different,” Rah explains. “My family pulls and harvests the sea moss from the crisp cool waters out in Jamaica, and ships directly to me.”

“I use my chef background and ability to intertwine the gel in delicious acai bowls, salad dressings, yogurts, popsicles, juices, teas, apple sauce the list goes on and on. I’m a creative,” Rah explains.

She says there are over 62 flavors of smoothies in her pallet for MossbyRah. She plans to release them seasonally. “Right now we are featuring a lemonade made with alkaline water; it’s the perfect sweet to tart ratio,” she adds.

The Benefits of Moss

Sea moss is known also as Chondrus crispus—commonly called Irish moss or carrageen moss —is a species of purple red or gold algae which grows abundantly along the rocky parts of the Atlantic coast of Europe and North America.

“Studies show sea moss has a significant impact on the body’s ability to metabolize and burn fat,” Rah explains. “A large percentage of sea moss is made up of fiber which aids in digestion and increases good bacteria. The gel helps you feel full longer and contains prebiotics that makes you lean from the inside out.”

She continues, “Sea moss is also recommended for thyroid health because it’s rich in iodine. This mineral helps the thyroid regulate hormones and use them correctly. If you’re feeling fatigued or you’ve noticed weight gain, sea moss can help with both of those things by helping the thyroid.”

“As I mentioned above, there are prebiotics in sea moss that burn fat, but prebiotics are also healing to the gut microbiome. Studies have shown that sea moss includes a number of bioactive substances with prebiotic, anti-microbial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory activities. Taking care of our gut health is essential for boosting your immune system,” Rah says. “Other benefits of this powerful antioxidant-rich plant include neuroprotective effects, supporting muscle and energy recovery, and supporting fertility. “

Customer Feedback

“Before the pandemic, no one in America knew much about sea moss,” Rah describes. “I am Jamaican, so my family has always taken sea moss as a daily supplement to boost the immune system.”

“When I was young it was infused in a creamy vanilla-like drink, all my yardees know,” she explains in her native language. “When I started selling the gel, my customers told me they felt a boost of energy and felt better in the board rooms, some were even losing weight. Others even said they used the bathroom regularly and that their skin was clearing up. People have even used sea moss in their hair.”

Spreading the Word

Rah goes on to say she went back to school to become a holistic nutritionist after studying the renowned healer, Dr. Sebi, and his practices. “I knew that I could take a childhood remedy and infuse it into multiple different products to spread love and healing throughout the world.”

She says, “I see myself as always being prolific, and more so the anointed one. God has chosen to use me as a vessel to spread this superfood during these terrible times with the nation fighting the worst pandemic we have seen yet. At least we all are more health conscious than anything nowadays.”
