INTERVIEW: Top Broker on Social Media Matthew Martinez on the Changing Industry

SAN FRANCISCO, California – “So many industries have reached significant levels of innovation over the years. Typically in the retail sector, but I’ve seen some impressive stuff in so many distinct industries,” Matthew Martinez, founder of Diamond Real Estate Group says.

“But in something like real estate, bringing technology to that sphere is essential. This industry isn’t going anywhere, so why not streamline the work to increase efficiency and push us into the new era of real estate with the use of this technology?” Matthew Martinez has been featured as a guest on podcasts and blogs, with media outlets seeking his perspective as an emerging visionary in an ever-growing industry.

Matthew Martinez has been on a roll, holding a wealth of experience accumulated over more than a decade in the business, and combining an online savvy with practical knowledge that proves to be a recipe for success. Earning accolades for his work as an investor, flipper, and broker on Property Spark, Matthew Martinez is all about circumventing the typical methods common to the industry in favor of efficiency and excellent service.

We got to sit down with Martinez to pick his brain about real estate, success, and enterprise’s inherent draw toward innovation.

Matthew, thanks so much for meeting with us today!

Thanks for having me!

Let’s jump right into it. You started in real estate in 2009, how has the industry changed?

The industry itself is largely the same, it’s focused on the same concepts with a new set of circumstances. When I entered the industry we were in the midst of a catastrophe. The market was absolutely flooded with foreclosures and many of my colleagues were actually on their way out of the business. Now, we’re in the midst of one of the biggest housing booms of the last forty years. This is to say that a big part of success in this business is resilience.

That makes sense, what do you think is the key to resilience and success in the business?

Self-improvement and innovation, these are concepts that have a place in most industries but when you’re thinking about adapting to socioeconomic change, that’s something you can’t do without. Real estate as a business is one of the few that are directly connected to those factors. That being said, at Diamond Real Estate Group, we’re focused on meeting the changes of the times head-on.

Would you say self-improvement is a constant in your life?

Absolutely. In my professional life and personal life, I try to give my all to whatever I do. I think that desire and that dynamic to focus on something bigger than yourself is a big part of a recipe for success.

Interesting. What would you call success?

Freedom, independence, and having the power to take the time to spend with the ones you love, to me, is a success. And the only way you yield that is with the right combination of work, timing, smarts, and a little luck.

Where do you see the industry going from here?

A streamlined approach is something everyone is striving for and I feel like we’re in the midst of a huge shift technologically. As real estate hasn’t previously been perceived as needing a big tune-up, now with the pandemic I think a lot of CEO’s are rethinking that. Now, in our current market, we have that chance to meet the moment and bring us into a new era.
