<p style=”line-height:1.38;margin-bottom:0pt;margin-top:0pt;” dir=”ltr”>Netflix’s upcoming film adaptation of Gears of War may have its director.&nbsp;<a style=”text-decoration:none;” href=”https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/gears-of-war-movie-david-leitch-director-1236212544/”><em>The Hollywood Reporter</em></a> states that David Leitch, director of <em>The Fall Guy</em> and <em>Bullet Train</em>, is negotiating to helm the project.</p><p style=”line-height:1.38;margin-bottom:0pt;margin-top:0pt;” dir=”ltr”>&nbsp;</p><p style=”line-height:1.38;margin-bottom:0pt;margin-top:0pt;” dir=”ltr”>The film was&nbsp;<a style=”text-decoration:none;” href=”https://www.gameinformer.com/2022/11/07/netflix-announces-gears-of-war-live-action-film-and-animated-series”>first announced in 2022</a>, and David Leitch’s production company, 87North, will help produce the feature alongside Gears developer The Coalition. Leitch’s other directorial credits include <em>Deadpool 2</em>, <em>Fast &amp; Furious Presents: Hobbs &amp; Shaw</em>, and <em>Atomic Blonde</em>.</p><p style=”line-height:1.38;margin-bottom:0pt;margin-top:0pt;” dir=”ltr”>&nbsp;</p><p style=”line-height:1.38;margin-bottom:0pt;margin-top:0pt;” dir=”ltr”>Netflix’s Gears movie already has Dune screenwriter&nbsp;<a style=”text-decoration:none;” href=”https://www.gameinformer.com/2023/03/21/dune-screenwriter-to-adapt-gears-of-war-movie-for-netflix”>John Spaihts as the scriptwriter</a>, but there have been no casting announcements since the film is likely still a ways out. Netflix is also creating an adult animated series based on Gears of War, which will release after the live-action film.&nbsp;</p>

Gears of War: Reloaded

<p style=”line-height:1.38;margin-bottom:0pt;margin-top:0pt;” dir=”ltr”>The Gears series has been in the news recently with the announcement of&nbsp;<a style=”text-decoration:none;” href=”https://www.gameinformer.com/2025/05/05/gears-of-war-makes-its-playstation-debut-this-summer”>Gears of War: Reloaded</a>, a new enhanced remaster of the original 2006 game that will be released on PlayStation 5.
