And the Oscar goes to…

The 2022 Oscars were a night to remember — in more ways than one — with many stars becoming first-time winners.

“CODA” took home the big award of the night, winning Best Picture. The feel-good Apple TV+ film also won Best Adapted Screenplay for writer-director Sian Heder as well as Best Supporting Actor for Troy Kotsur, who made history as the first deaf actor to win in that category.

Ariana DeBose also had a historic win when she was awarded the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “West Side Story,” becoming the first openly queer woman to win an Academy Award for acting.

Meanwhile, Will Smith and Jessica Chastain became first-time Oscars winners as well — winning Best Actor and Actress for “King Richard” and “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” respectively — after both being previously nominated in the past.
