‘The Origin of Evil’ Review: An Enticing French Drama of Family Wealth, Featuring a New-Style Femme Fatale
The setting of “The Origin of Evil” reeks of devious camp (not just the décor, but the knives-out dramaturgy), but Marnier’s script is accomplished enough to root the backstabbing betrayals and shifting loyalties in the play of personality. Nothing feels too planned out or farfetched.
