The young industry talent has recently served as director and producer of She is Dangerous, released last year. With a string of nominations and awards, praise for her work, and experience working with some of the most experienced actors in the industry, Yang Liu’s career is being afforded greater opportunities through her success. 

This success is well-earned, as Lizzy has credits in producing and directing several award-winning short films, and has served as a creative executive at Starlight Media, a company responsible for such hits as Midway and Crazy Rich Asians. With the resolve to introduce deeper cultural concepts and a greater sense of diversity to the industry, Lizzy Yang Liu is making waves.

As a film producer and director, Lizzy Yang Liu has written and directed several award-winning films, including A Matter of Time, World Without End, and Tessellation. Liu’s productions have won many international film festivals, such as LA Shorts (Oscar, BAFTA qualified), Holly Shorts(Oscar qualified), WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, and New York City Independent Film Festival. 

Currently, working closely with Academy Award winner Donna Gigliotti and Academy Award nominee Diane Quon in the post-production and distribution process of an award-winning documentary Wuhan Wuhan, and an indie feature film Nezouh funded by BFI and Film 4. Nezuoh recently won The Audience Award in 2022 at the Venice Film Festival and was selected by the Busan International Film Festival. Lizzy Yang Liu is developing her career as a multi-media producer, Co-founder, and CEO, she recently found a Startup company “Invisolve Studio”. The business is trying to explore and integrate resources and connections in the entertainment industry, including AI technology, visual arts, films, and music.

A Matter of Time is Quickly Becoming a Film Festival Favorite

A Matter of Time most recently earned the 2022 Anatolian Film Award, status as a featured winner of the London International Monthly Film Festival, as well as a nomination in the Silicon Beach Film Festival® and the Golden Short Film Festival.

The film has received consistent praise for stellar performances from the main cast, as well as stellar direction and production standards set by director Lizzy Yang Liu. “As an Asian female indie filmmaker in the industry, I spare no effort to speak my voice to the public through my film,” she said when speaking to TheNerdDaily. She is Dangerous Receives Hollywood Gold Award

She is Dangerous, a short film produced and directed by Lizzy Yang Liu recently won the award for Best Thriller at the Hollywood Gold Awards, earning young filmmaker Yang Liu another win in a string of successes.

On the film, Lizzy Yang Liu served as director, writer, producer, and editor of She is Dangerous, a film about a boy who specializes in perfume and decides to make a “special” gift for his beloved neighbor girl. The film won the Hollywood Gold Medal for Best Suspense Film and was nominated for an Honorable Mention at the New York Film Awards.

Advocating for LGBT BIPOC in the Industry

In her production and direction work, Lizzy Yang Liu has expressed through projects like A Matter of Time and Wuhan Wuhan not only a capability for helming projects disrupting the white-washed film scene of Hollywood, she thrives doing so. In providing a voice to communities of diverse backgrounds, Yang Liu is slowly helping to shift the narrative to underrepresented communities around the world.

Yang Liu (Lizzy Liu) is an accomplished and award-winning producer and director based in Los Angeles. Currently, she is a co-founder and CEO of a startup Invisolve Studio, producing cutting-edge creative content, including AI Visual Art, Films, and sound design & music. After Yang graduated from Emerson College with an MFA degree, she moved to Hollywood to pursue her dream in the entertainment industry. She works as a creative executive in Starlight Media Inc. (Crazy Rich Asians, Midway) in charge of the independent films department and supervises the “Stars Collective” program to support BIPOC and female filmmakers. She is now exploring and breaking the boundaries of the art and entertainment industry with her professional experiences, organizing and blending technology with all art forms of projects and services with the mindset of an innovator and entrepreneur.
