Madison Gorn: Setting Fire to Outdated Marketing Methods and Creating Her Own
Madison Gorn, Founder and CEO of Maddie Girl Marketing, which has helped thousands of businesses, including Target and Sephora, to optimize their online presence, remembers the first time she disrupted an industry. “I was only seven,” she says, laughing at the memory. “My mom was into makeup, and I used to watch her apply it, fascinated by its colors and effects. One day, while she was off doing laundry or something like that, I went into the bathroom, pulled out a blush palette from Claire’s, and started crushing it and mixing it with Vaseline. I think I was trying to turn it into a shimmering pigment. Everything was going pretty well, actually, until I heard my mom’s aghast yelp behind me. I don’t think she was too impressed with my initiative, truth be told.”
Madison’s mother quickly forgave her, thankfully, and sensed that her daughter had a talent for thinking outside of the box. Within a few weeks, she had helped Madison set up a small table in her bedroom, where Madison would spend the free hours of her childhood, making cosmetics out of household products. “It was basically a laboratory,” she recalls. “I had so much fun creating new blushes and eyeshadows that when I was in high school, I started my cosmetic brand, Maddie Girl Cosmetics. The wonderful thing is that through it, I have been able to empower thousands of young women to stand behind their passions and live their dreams.”
In high school, Madison began exploring the power of social media to strengthen her company’s brand. “As you can imagine, my generation is very tech savvy, so the best way to market my cosmetics company was to build its online presence,” she continues. “I explored Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms, perfecting my ability to use them to tell authentic stories about my company. This increased Maddie Girl Cosmetics’ sales and taught me a lot about effective marketing.”
With the knowledge she had gained from her own marketing campaigns, Madison realized she could do even more in the business world: she could create personalized campaigns for entrepreneurs so that they could more easily reach their business goals. “That’s when I founded Maddie Girl Marketing,” she states. “So many companies were struggling to make the switch to Internet marketing that I knew I could fill a niche and really establish myself.”
Madison wanted her marketing agency to be different. “I was not the first marketing company in the world, of course. However, I was one of the first to not focus on just taking over all of a client’s marketing channels. Instead, I looked down the road, so to speak, to see what my clients would need in the long term and based the marketing campaigns on that. I wanted my services to be realistic, flexible, and effective. The Internet is only going to continue to evolve, as is technology, so our campaigns are able to adapt to those changes.”
Maddie Girl Marketing accomplishes this through effective social media and email marketing, branding, podcasting, product manufacturing, developing apps, creating NFT collections, and more.
“We are a one-stop shop for businesses that want to grow no matter what stage they may be at,” Madison explains. “That includes complete business management services: content creation, marketing, manufacturing, and fulfillment. We take all the pressure and responsibility off the shoulders of our clients and allow them to sit back, collect money, and watch as their dreams turn into reality.”
Madison is only twenty years old, but her agency’s clients already include Ulta, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Homegoods. “I think some people are surprised that at my age, I can own a respected marketing agency,” she reflects. “Why should they be? Whether or not you’re successful in business has nothing to do with your age. Instead, it’s about offering an excellent product or service, one that fills a need for customers and makes their lives easier in some way. That’s why Maddie Girl Marketing has been so successful.”
The biggest reward has been seeing how her agency is able to shape the business world’s future leaders. “Each time I meet with a new client, I am always impressed by their passion, vision, and determination,” Madison shares. “All they need in order to rise up to their potential is an effective, innovative marketing campaign. Ultimately, Maddie Girl Marketing is the wings that my clients need to become the rockstars they are destined to be.”
